Job Summary
 

The Leadership Engagement and Initiatives Associate conducts essential tasks related to high level volunteer engagement and support of the fundraising efforts for the Chicago Booth Research and Learning Centers. Reporting to the Director, Leadership Engagement and Initiatives, the Associate will work collaboratively to execute the program strategies of Chicago Booth’s boards and Councils, support the partnership between Centers and Advancement, and assist in writing of template proposals for current and prospective donors.

Responsibilities

  • Working with fundraisers, prospect research staff, event staff, and other colleagues from around the University, assists in the process of preparing confidential briefings, written fundraising proposals, and communications with current and prospective donors.
  • Serves as a co-lead for the fundraising efforts of 3-5 Research and Learning Centers. In partnership with Advancement and Center staff, participates in regular strategy meetings, identifies appropriate engagement opportunities for prospects, and assists in scheduling visits between prospects and school leadership.
  • Supports Council membership procedures and the logistics of regular and as-needed meetings (in-person and virtual, domestic and international). Council membership procedures will include: drafting formal communications, working across teams on membership meeting briefings, coordinating offboarding communications, and managing updates to data.
  • Manages a portfolio of 15-20 former Council members and Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. Develops strong relationships to build connections with and support for the school including philanthropic support and volunteer engagement.
  • Extracts and analyzes data from the University database, enter prospect notes, and run monthly standard reports and specialized reports.
  • Working with the Director, Leadership Engagement and Initiatives, Directors of the Centers, and the Chief Advancement Officer, assists in special projects as needed.
  • Has a moderate/solid understanding of fundraising operations for a school or department of the University. Identifies budget requirements and staffing needs on a project or event basis.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and volunteers. Establishes and maintains donor records and accounts.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum one year of work experience in customer service, nonprofit management, advancement, donor relations, stewardship, alumni relations, or similar work.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated MS Office expertise (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), web conferencing proficiency, event logistics, and internet researching skills.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and work both independently and within a team.
