Lead Researcher – Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Lead Researcher to join the Gottschalk Lab in the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy (BMTCT).

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Lead Researcher to join the Gottschalk Lab  in the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy (BMTCT) . The Gottschalk lab is interested in developing cellular immunotherapies for pediatric cancer. The Lead Researcher will conduct research that is focused on the immunotherapy of pediatric leukemia with genetically modified T cells. They will join a highly collaborative research group that strives to build and maintain a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion. Likewise, we care deeply about the success and professional growth of our lab members. Applicants with experience in generating and evaluating human immune cells, flow cytometry, and preclinical animal models are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tissue culture – e.g., isolation of human cells from blood samples, cell sorting, culture of human primary cells and cell lines, transduction of cells with viral vectors.
  • Functional analysis and characterization of T cells – e.g., ELISA, Multiplex analysis, flow cytometric analysis, cytotoxicity assays.
  • Molecular and Cell Biology – e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, western blot analysis.
  • Animal experiments – e.g., cell injections, cell isolation, imaging.
  • Analyze data, present results at lab meetings, support manuscript and grant submissions.
  • Keep accurate data records and notebooks.
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the lab.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required.
  • Two (2) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree.
  • No experience is required with a PhD.

 

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Lead Researcher – Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy.
