Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Lead Research Administration professional to provide research administration support for the Faculty and Learners in the department. The Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine provides personalized care for patients with neurological disease, trains medical students and residents in clinical care and research, and conducts research to advance the art and science of neurology and provide meaningful new therapies for our patients. The Department's areas of focus are Parkinson's disease, dementia, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and neuropsychiatry.

 

This position is eligible for potential future hybrid work schedule.

 

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

 


Job Duties
  • Responsible for the financial management activities of grants, managing the full ward life cycle from application to award closeout.
  • Provide grant program expertise, financial expertise, and guidance related to sponsored research and educational grant application development for Faculty and Learners pursuing independent funding.
  • Coordinate directly with Faculty and Learners needing assistance and support to develop individual and multi-program proposals, including assistance with grant proposal application systems.
  • Prepare proposal budgets to assure correct faculty effort/salary calculations, supplies, services and other expense categorical breakdown, subcontract calculations and indirect cost calculations. This may require coordination with subcontracting organizations for their institutional data and forms for the application.
  • Communicate with BCM Accounting, Grants and Contracts, and collaborating institutions to ensure sub-awards and independent consultant agreements are established and executed in a timely manner.
  • Manage the Time/Effort certification process in the BCM Effort reporting system.
  • Ensure proper sourcing of faculty in the effort and cost allocation system (BCM's PEPT)
  • Develop, maintain and communicate standard operating procedures to support departmental pre-award activities. Additionally, identify and implement process improvement initiatives for grant management activities.
  • Monitor time and effort reporting and provides monthly grant and other ad hoc reporting to principal investigators.
  • Manage complex awards and sub-awards from multiple sponsors and outside institutions: industry, clinical, federal, and foundation. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CRA
  • Must have wide-depth of knowledge with relevant experience of contracts, subcontracts, and be highly comfortable managing multiple projects at one time.
