Position Summary:

Performs a variety of technical as well as supervisory procedures in the MRI department. Supervises the workflow in the MRI section and maintains the Quality Control of the MRI units.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees the work of the MRI personnel in conjunction with the Administrative Director and Imaging manager and keeps MRI protocols current by interacting with the Radiologists. 
  • Provides guidance and supervision to the MRI personnel by training and monitoring/allocating work.
  • Prepares schedules, assists in selecting personnel, evaluates performances and makes recommendations for personnel actions. 
  • Assists in developing and recommending department operating budget and ensures that the MRI department operates within budget.
  • Operates MRI equipment and positions patient to produce high quality diagnostic MRI exams. 
  • Performs MRI studies; obtains patient history, explains procedures and addresses patient concerns. 
  • Acts as a technical resource for technologists in the MRI department.
  • Provides Quality Control assurance to the MRI department.  
  • Maintains inventory control, storage and orders supplies as needed.
  • Provides patient safety as required. 
  • Schedules down time for equipment preventive maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.  
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attending in-service meetings and conferences
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. 
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.  Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

Minimum Education

  • High School or equivalent
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

Minimum Experiences:

  • 5 years MRI experience, preferably within a hospital setting

Required Courses/Training

  • Accredited program in Radiological Technology

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • California CRT license; Registered by ARRT; MRI advanced registry exam certification; approved CPR
