Under general supervision of the North County Cancer Center management team, the Lead Infusion Scheduler is responsible for oversight of the Infusion appointment scheduling process in Epic which are complex patient appointments. Takes a lead role in their area to ensure staff is trained and coached in the Infusion scheduling process. Assists in the development and improvement of the scheduling process in the Infusion Center. In conjunction with the Infusion Center and North County Management team, establishes standards and procedures to maintain patient infusion schedules and identify opportunities for more efficient and greater patient care delivery related to appointments and scheduling. Acts as a liaison between Infusion Center, Cancer Clinic, pharmacy, lab and front desk staff. Leads quality assurance efforts and serves as a front-line customer service representative for all scheduling issues and patient complaints/problem resolution in all clinic areas and the call center. Makes recommendations for improvement of processes.

The Lead Infusion Scheduler is responsible for a variety of clerical duties in support of patient services within clinical and call center areas including; greeting patients, arriving patients for their appointments, registration updates, insurance and authorization verification, audit billing documents, and co-pay collection. Answer patient phone calls and provides assistance as needed. Maintains a high level of professionalism in communicating with patients, subordinates, peers and physicians. Collaboration with other Infusion Scheduling Leads, teams and leadership. Performs other lead duties as required.

  • Four (4) years of previous related experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Epic/Cadence. Experience with insurance and authorization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of third-party payers including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Advanced knowledge of Infusion Scheduling/Oncology.

  • Highly proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.

  • Familiar with hospital patient access systems.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability by using good judgment.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently set priorities in order to meet established deadlines.

  • Superb customer service skills.

  • Experience working in Oncology or any cancer-related clinic setting.

  • Previous call center experience.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,178 - $76,108 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.30 - $36.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
