Lead Evaluator, Center for Child and Human Development – Georgetown University Medical Center  

The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities. We execute this mission through research, training and technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership. Through our Early Childhood Division, the Center is home to the Center of Excellence for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (COE) and its affiliated Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Technical Assistance Center (IECMH TA Center), both funded through federal grants from SAMHSA. The Centers work to foster, enhance, and support scale of Infant and Early Childhood-related policies, programs, and practices across the nation.

Job Overview

The Lead Evaluator works with the GUCCHD Director of Research and Evaluation to provide leadership around the research and evaluation activities for both Centers in primary duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating the implementation and impact of the two projects
  • Providing technical assistance to build state, local and tribal organizations’ capacity to conduct evaluations of their early childhood systems and interventions
  • Developing materials and supporting strategies to advance the field of IECMH/C 

They work closely with project leaders to ensure that all federal reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion, including SPARS measures.

Work Interactions

Reporting programmatically to the Director of Research and Evaluation for the GUCCHD, the Lead Evaluator interacts with Project Directors and Senior Faculty and Staff on a regular basis.

They represent the Centers and the GUCCHD by collaborating extensively with internal and external partners, contractors, the funder, and leaders in the field; and are an active supervisor of staff (one or several, depending), and are a mentor to other staff and interns as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in early childhood, social work or public health
  • At least 7 years of experience with applied research and/or program evaluation and Community Based Participatory Research
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and to work well both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong organizational, management, conceptual, and analytical skills
  • Experience with data collection, management and analysis including demonstrated skill in using Qualtrics, Microsoft EXCEL, SPSS, and Atlas,ti (or equivalents)
  • Experience in the development and design of research tools, surveys, and questions
  • Data analysis and program evaluation experience
  • Strong commitment to health and racial equity and social justice

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience providing technical assistance
  • Expertise in early childhood assessment measures
