This Temporary appointment can be concluded prior to the stated temporary appointment end date, normally with a two-week notice period. Continuation of this temporary appointment is contingent upon grant funding.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$6250.00 per month ($75,000.00 annually)

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary


This is a full-time position based on the San Francisco State campus. The primary responsibility of the Lead Coach is to lead the implementation, design and coordination of the Jumpstart Early Practicum. The Lead Coach will also take lead in the production of funder reports. The lead will work with a team of two additional Support Coaches.

Position Information


Early Practicum Program Implementation and Development
  • Lead Coach Coordinate Jumpstart program implementation and planning, ensuring high quality program implementation for program partners, field mentor teachers, and Corps members
  • Support and provide complex analysis and recommendations for 64 Jumpstart students.
  • Use data to provide cohort of Corps members with systematic support, consistent and responsive management, and clear ongoing communication
  • Serve as main point of contact for participants in the Jumpstart program and connect other prospective students to their respective program based on need
  • Oversee and Support compliance process to ensure files for preschool evaluation collection and data entry by working with program leads
  • Lead preparation and submission of reports on programmatic performance to Jumpstart Northern California Office on a quarterly basis
  • Oversee and Support management of Corps member compliance files to Corporation for National and Community Service and/or Grantee specifications; support Corps members in the completion of expected service hour requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all early childhood programs in the City and develop relationships to establish early practicum and placement.
  • Ensure early childhood agencies are familiar with Jumpstart, PATH, and SF SEED programs, and work with agencies and centers to provide in service work days, support with educational planning and have access to Jumpstart and PATH community programing (i.e. conferences, learning communities, etc.).
  • Coordinate with partner agencies and sites to recruit children and families for the virtual school readiness program, identifying ways to ensure children are participating and following up to schedule virtual sessions
  • Create, assemble and distribute monthly shelter in place activity kits for families in the program
  • Support program activities (i.e.: instructor of record) for Jumpstart Early Practicum program and assist in the development and facilitation of programming

  • Assist in the development and facilitation of interactive program participant activities to connect the content taught in the classroom and the experience occurring in the preschool classrooms

  • Observe Jumpstart sessions to support high-quality Early Childhood interactions; provide modeling, coaching and feedback to corps members; support teacher collaboration

  • Review and provide on-going feedback via video coaching and practice.

  • Assist with professional development, technical assistance to help Corps members understand how the following function in a preschool classroom program and compliance-related issues

  • Participate in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with Jumpstart Program Director, attend ongoing Bay Area Site Manager meetings, San Francisco Team meetings, and any other feedback meetings

  • Support the development of National and local stakeholders by hosting site visits and
    engaging Corps members in events

  • Coordinate and facilitate virtual school’s readiness cafes for partner centers including recruiting, tracking and sharing data on cafe success and challenges

  • Work in collaboration with partner sites to design and implement curriculum that aligns with the needs and goals of their program

Mentor Teacher Support
  • Oversee the selection and training of field mentor teachers
  • Manage 10-15 classroom teacher relationships (per each Workforce Manager); provide orientation, and regularly meet with head teachers on a bi-weekly to monthly basis, and provide ongoing low and high touch support
  • Participate in corps member/teacher planning meetings to support quality collaboration, meeting facilitation and program planning
  • Provide professional development support for field teachers, host a minimum of 3 field mentor teacher roundtable professional development meetings a year
  • Coordinate preschool classroom lead teacher - student collaboration for program participant videos

SF State Program Management
  • Build and manage high quality preschool Program Partner relationships for the early practicum and outreach for pathway partnerships
  • Provide Corps members with systematic support, consistent and responsive management, and clear ongoing communication
  • Oversee Program Coordinator to ensure compliance expectations are met for all program and funders
  • Oversee two other Support Coaches to successfully execute goals

Jumpstart National Network Responsibilities
  • Participate in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with Jumpstart Program Director, attend ongoing Bay Area Site Manager meetings, San Francisco Team meetings, and any other feedback meetings

Minimum Qualifications


Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
  • General knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods Knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to and/or administrative specialty.
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Preferred Qualifications


The position requires knowledge and experience in early childhood education, knowledge of adult learning, skills to coach and mentor early childhood educators, ability to establish relationships with early childhood teachers in a variety of settings and capable of providing supportive and constructive feedback.
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in an early childhood setting
  • Experience in program and project management
  • Experience in mentoring and/or coaching early childhood educators
  • Experience in staff supervision and training
  • Strong organizational, management and leadership abilities
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with university staff and the general community
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet expectations as scheduled
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic and some advanced functions of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) the internet and web-based forms
  • Ability to comprehend and manage fiscal procedures and budgets
