Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:
Serve as the ITS lead to analyze, design, document, development, test, and implement complex integrations with University and third-party managed IT systems. Own the development, implementation, and sustainment of a comprehensive and composable integration strategy to meet evolving University data requirements. Serve as the subject matter expert for integration technologies, integration design best practices, and overall industry trends. Support a diverse range of University customers to ensure integrations projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, develop and maintain system integrations between information systems of record and related applications at URI.
Aid in the development of a modern integration strategy.
Play a lead technical role in data governance initiatives.
Perform system administration tasks on Linux and Windows servers.
As systems, components, and integration technologies evolve, develop new programming and API skill sets to maintain currency in the evolving landscape of systems integration.
Maintain expert knowledge of databases and database programming to efficiently and accurately extract and update data as part of a systems integration project.
Ensure applications/code is designed and built for speed, security, and scalability.
Ensure software works properly through regular maintenance and testing.
Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve existing application integrations.
Define and communicate the “big picture” in terms of the overall integration solution (both functional and technical components) and break it down into smaller manageable work units.
Work across numerous programs and divisions of the University, communicate effectively with less technically oriented functional area staff.
Gather information from users to meet their technical needs. Understand both the functional work processes supported by the integration and understand the basic functionality of the target system.
Understand the URI technical application stacks and business model and provide technical advice whenever necessary.
Document and create diagrams and models to guide users and programmers in the use case of the application or interface.
Work with any application software that supports administrative systems.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work both collaboratively and independently, as needed. Analyze and troubleshoot all issues. Show initiative and leadership.
Maintain proficiency in programming, systems analysis and project control tools and techniques and industry trends and terminology used to develop systems.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Must be proficient in the use of various software and programming tools, computer workstation equipment, Internet development tools, terminology, and practices.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Minimum of four years’ experience programming, implementing and maintaining information technology systems (i.e., programming experience may have been gained through work experience, engagement with professional development opportunities, applied experience in the course of education or independent entrepreneurial activities).
3. Demonstrated experience analyzing needs and determining appropriate solutions.
4. Demonstrated experience working with four or more of the following: API services, REST/SOAP Services, ERP applications, object oriented programming (Java, Python, C#, etcetera), scripting languages (bash, PowerShell, etcetera), SQL, GraphQL, IPaaS systems.
5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated experience in higher education.
2. Demonstrated experience developing integrations using Informatica (IICS).
3. Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft HR, Finance and Student modules.
4. Demonstrated supervisory experience.
5. Demonstrated experience with Linux and Windows server administration.
