Overview:

The LCSW Field Supervisor provides culturally sensitive, trauma informed clinical and administrative support to MSW students enrolled in CSUN’s graduate social work program. Ensures sound clinical direction and coordination of mental health, case management and advocacy services with the agency’s child maltreatment, domestic violence and sexual assault programs. The Field Supervisor plays a central role to student learning and acquisition of social work competencies. The Field Supervisor facilitates student understanding and application of social work values, skills, and ethics.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the LCSW Field Supervisor provides: Learning Opportunities: Provides a variety of quality learning opportunities that are consistent with the student’s Field Education Contract and general social work practice such as work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Ensures that student assignments progress in complexity over the course of the year. The Field Supervisor facilitates student understanding and application of social work values, skills, and ethics. Clinical Supervision Provides oversight and the coordination of MSW practicum students participating in agency activities, provides individual and group clinical supervision to MSW interns on a weekly basis. Ensures treatment interventions are consistent with the agencies policies and procedures, and in accordance with the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics; Ensures Trauma Informed and Empowerment practices are at the forefront of all clinical decisions. Oversees the clinical and technical accuracy of client records, other case management documentation and data management systems.  Reads and reviews all assessments, progress notes, treatment plans and other case documentation, providing direct feedback and guidance.  Ensures all treatment modalities provided are congruent with interview, assessment, history, presenting issue and holistic case presentation.  Tracks and adjusts treatment modalities in collaboration with MSW Intern.  Mentorship: Provides professional development through review of live supervision, documenting professional development in performance reviews and timely completion of student professional development field-site evaluations. Monitors intern productivity, providing administration with continuous feedback promoting the adherence to program expectations.  Ensures that supervisees are adhering to agency policy and protocols, monitoring data collection and participating in quarterly assurance review. Creates data driven reports to examine service delivery to ensure interventions are efficacious. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and participates in case presentation.  Interfaces with representatives from graduate schools, local community partners and contract representatives to maintain agency’s positive profile in the community.  Trainings: Delivers training and in-services presentations, receives training on evidence based/informed practices. Liaison: Act as a liaison with CSUN MSW department and program director. Ensures open communication with the student and program director, bringing any concerns to the attention of both the student and program director and or other faculty as soon as possible so they can be addressed in a timely manner.

Qualifications: 

Must possess a master’s degree from CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) accredited program. Must have current/active Licensure in Clinical Social Work in the state of California. Must meet California requirements to provide clinical supervision to graduate students and individuals obtaining hours toward CA licensure in Clinical Social Work. A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience as MSW. Supervisory experience required. Must have a minimum of five years-experience in chronic complex trauma, poly-victimization, crisis intervention, child maltreatment, domestic violence and or sexual abuse.  Experience working with multi-disciplinary service delivery teams for the purpose of case consultation and presentation.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

Prior experience working with MSW students. Earnest desire to promote professional development in graduate level social work students. As a supervisor, treats staff and volunteers within the parameters of Strength United’s policies and procedures, demonstrating professional leadership skills.  Has the capacity to maintain positive communication with others. Knowledge and respect of all confidentiality issues.  Is Self-motivated, dependable, highly organized, multi-tasking with a proactive approach to work. Is conversant in the intersection between social justice and mental health.  Is capable of working independently and within a team environment. Has a demonstrated history of exercising good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities.  Must show a passion and sensitivity for trauma work.  Must demonstrate an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, abilities, and religious backgrounds and an ability to work collaboratively in an ethnically linguistically, and culturally diverse environment.  Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

Full Pay range: $75 per hour - $85 per hour

The anticipated hiring range: $75 per hour - $85 per hour

Time Base: Part-time

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting with a low-to-moderate noise level; employee will need to utilize their personal vehicle for travel to and from meetings outside the office; employee must regularly communicate by telephone, written communications and in-person with staff, families served, partners, funders and other professionals; occasionally lift, carry and position objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
