Law School - External Relations Events Manager
The External Relations Events Manager provides extensive and critical support to the Assistant Dean for External Relations, the Director of External Relations, and the Law School's External Relations team. This individual will manage many of the day-to-day aspects of the Law School's outward-facing plans and programs, including: taking the lead on planning and executing key events, facilitating fund-raising initiatives and donor/alumni relations, and providing executive assistant support to the Assistant Dean of External Relations.
Essential Functions:

  • Provide executive administrative support
    • Manage travel both strategically and logistically
    • Manage multi-party scheduling of meetings and calls with both internal and external parties
    • Create presentation materials, both content drafting and design elements
    • Compile and review budgets, complete scheduling, facilitate staff meetings, and submit reimbursements
    • Complete administrative work personally, as well as delegation and follow up with student employees
  • Plan, lead, and ensure the success of Alumni Events
    • Constituency: Class Reunions and Tailgate
    • Summer: Law Camp
    • Paid: Golf Tournament, Founders Day, Scholarship Banquet
    • Service: Wills for Heroes
    • Law School: 1L Breakfast, Graduation Reception, Seasonal Events
  • Facilitate Alumni Board Functions
    • Assist with Alumni Board Meetings, Executive Board Meetings, and other scheduled and ad hoc meetings
    • Facilitate communication with and between Volunteer Leaders
    • Prepare and distribute notes and other documents as needed
  • Improve Donor Relations and Fundraising
    • Maintain accurate donor contact information
    • Develop and expand the functionality of the Law School's CRM
    • Facilitated donor meetings, both formal and informal, including groups like the CIL and the Dean's Circle
  • Community Outreach
    • Represent the Law School to various on- and off-campus organizations and constituencies
    • Develop positive and collaborative relationships with other Law School departments and other campus groups
    • Facilitate service opportunities for the Law School and the BYU Law Legal Community
    • Enhances the Law School's reputation and recognition through projects (large and small) and personal interactions

 
Required Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with senior professionals, major donors, and volunteer leaders
  • Highly developed organization and efficiency skills, able to multitask, as well as to see projects through to fruition
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and other general office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative in designing and implementing programs and facilitating events 

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and design applications
  • Previous experience managing individuals or programs
  • Experience effectively using a CRM data, including communications, record-keeping, and marketing innovation
  • Working knowledge of BYU Law or a related academic institution's processes and procedures

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree OR 3 years of related experience
Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of related experience
 

Employee Class: 3/4 Time (28 hour)
Work Location: Provo Campus
Environment: Rare presence of abnormal variations in temperature and exposure to outside conditions
Desired Start Date: As soon as possible
Job Close Date: Open Until Filled
Pay Level: 51
Approximate Starting Salary: Depends on experience and qualifications
