This position is required to be a certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida, vested with the sworn ability and authority to bear arms & make arrests.
This position is responsible for supervision, management and leadership of police work in directing all police patrol activities, specialized administrative or operational duties. The employee is required to engage in the pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators, manage critical incidents, provide command leadership in a major component/section of the police department, and serve as a member of the Chief's command staff.
Considered critical personnel subject to on-call and immediate recall status. Considerable independent judgment must be exercised interpreting rules, laws and regulations, and instructing employees in emergency situations.
Work is performed according to departmental and university rules and regulations, state and federal law.
