Course / Program Description
This course is designed to help students clarify their own beliefs and values, review the dynamics of the profession's Code of Ethics, gain knowledge about legal implications and explore ethical issues related to substance use disorder counseling. In addition, students learn about the scope of practice for certified addiction counselors.
Job Description
The Department of Health Sciences and Sciences at UCLA Extension offers a wide variety of certificate programs and courses including transfer-credit (XL), post-baccalaureate credit-bearing (400-level), continuing education (CEU) credit, and non-credit-bearing general interest courses. UCLA Extension courses and certificate programs offer students the opportunity to learn from highly qualified practitioners who hold advanced degrees, are passionate about teaching and impart knowledge within their field of expertise. Applications to teach are accepted throughout the year to fill immediate program needs and increase the depth of the instructor pool.
A current opening is available for an instructor to teach in the discipline of Community Health Sciences. Qualified applicants who have JD and CCAAP certification with two or more years professional experience in substance use disorder counseling as well as college-level teaching experience are encouraged to apply.
This course will be offered in the remote instruction format using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) as a support tool.
Course schedule for the Summer 2024 Quarter:
Tuesdays, July 30, 2024 - September 3, 2024
6:30PM-9:30PM PT
6 weeks, 18 contact hours
Remote: All class meetings are scheduled and held in real-time using Zoom, allowing for live interaction with your classmates and instructors. Course materials can be accessed any time through an online learning platform.
