UC San Diego is hiring temporary, full-time Laborers to support the campus operations for the 2023 - 2024 School Year.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 5 months

Compensation: $19.47per hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

Work Schedule: Mondays - Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: 100% on-site on campus in La Jolla.

Performs semi-skilled and skilled manual tasks and cleaning of College Residences /Dining Halls facilities, meeting/study rooms, laundry facilities, offices, restrooms, etc.

Primary duties will include the following:- Reconfiguring of student residences and furniture moving.

  • Assisting with counting, sorting and delivering of bedroom linens, as well as performing light maintenance activities.

  • Operating vacuum cleaners, floor machines, and power washer.

  • Other duties include damp/dust mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, waxing and buffing floors, emptying trash, moving and arranging furniture, washing windows, cleaning rooms, furniture, bathrooms, and appliances.

  • Safely operating and driving trucks with lifts, box trucks, and various other university vehicles.

  • Previous custodial and light maintenance experience strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to start working immediately after employment offer.

  • Must be willing to work at least 40 hours/week

  • DOJ/FBI background and DMV checks and clearance required prior to hire.

  • Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,653 - $52,555 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.47 - $25.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
