Position Overview

The Research Lab technician provides technical and/or research related support for performing a broad range of research related as well as laboratory management tasks with high degree of proficiency. This position will work in a team with other High Throughput Screening Laboratory (HTS) staff in general equipment calibration and maintenance, routine reagent preparation, placing and receiving orders, aliquoting reagents, updating ordering database as well as chemical and biological reagent inventory,  and overall laboratory housekeeping.


Job Description

50% - Preparing, maintaining and operating automation workstations, assay plates, compound management and assisting HTS staff as needed.

50% - General laboratory maintenance, placing and receiving orders, maintenance of cell culture facilities and incubators, autoclaving, laboratory safety implementation and supply ordering, receiving and stocking.  Up to date maintenance of Lab Safety documentation, Cell line and chemical inventory.


Position Requirements

  • Perform experiments in the lab that includes a combination of standing, walking and sitting for long periods of time.
  • Lifting up to 20 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds of lab supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or closely related field and 1 year experience with lab maintenance and basic laboratory techniques.
  • Previous experience utilizing safe laboratory procedures. ad demonstrated by previous education experience or work experience.
  • Effective written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
