Description

 

Assist the principal investigator (PI) by performing experiments focused on understanding the drivers of breast cancer metastasis and drug resistance. Research projects could include molecular cloning, protein purification, the development of cell based and biochemical assays, cell culture, transcriptional analysis, in vivo bioluminescent tracking experiments, mouse surgeries and histology. Assist faculty and students in experiments, and assist in manuscript and grant preparation.  Additional duties will include managing and ordering lab supplies and equipment, cataloging and maintaining databases of bacterial, cell line, antibody, and DNA reagents in the lab.  For more information on our research please visit our website: wendtlab.com.





Qualifications

 
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or closely related field
  • Two years of work experience in a laboratory setting in the areas of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or closely related field
  • Excellent record keeping skills
  • Good communications skills with ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines
  • Ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
  • Capable of taking initiative and assuming responsibility
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology
  • Experience in handling mice and performing detailed necropsy and small animal surgery
  • Examples of research productivity such as peer reviewed publications and/or abstract presentations
