General Description / Primary Purpose | Job functions are performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Department Chair. The Laboratory Technician supports the efficient and safe operations of laboratories in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. This includes ensuring the laboratories are properly stocked and equipment functions properly. The Lab Technician manages the safe disposal of hazardous waste and other lab support services as directed by the Laboratory Manager. |
Essential Duties
Job Function | 40% Ensure all inventory is stocked and equipment is in good working order in academic labs. 20% Receive, unpack, and distribute shipments of laboratory supplies. 15% Manage the execution of the Department’s hazardous waste program to ensure compliance with regulations. 15% Perform weekly and monthly inspections in all labs to ensure safety equipment is functioning and up to date. 10% Other duties in support of laboratories as directed by the Lab Manager. |
