The School of Pharmacy seeks a Lab Technician to perform laboratory tasks and support the needs of our growing research group.  The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to initiate new projects, ensure efficient lab operations, and will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience in a wide range of laboratory methods.  

Essential functions: Coordinate with team members and vendors to order laboratory supplies; Prepare reagents according to established methods and standard operating procedures; Express and purify proteins from bacterial culture stocks; Perform studies in mouse models; Safely handle radioisotopes; Maintain records of lab-specific documents (lab notebooks, instrument logs, maintenance logs, chemical and biological safety manuals, etc.); Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field with laboratory-based course work, and at least 6 months of relevant research/laboratory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated experience with handling laboratory equipment.
*Demonstrated ability to operate standard office equipment and software including MS Office Suite.
*Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and data analysis software and DNA sequence analysis software.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Good analytical and organizational skills.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
*Ability to evaluate and implement new techniques to address research problems.
*Ability to handle multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
*Strong willingness to explore and learn new laboratory procedures.
