As a Laboratory Technician 2 of the Microbiology/Virology Lab, you will play a vital role in performing pre- and post-analytical activities to ensure the smooth operation of the clinical laboratory. Your primary duties include: • Perform specimen processing duties, including accessioning, troubleshooting specimen/test order problems, rotating and discarding specimen holds, and filing. • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results. • Monitor inventories of media and reagents used in diagnostic testing to ensure adequate supplies for laboratory operations. • Provide support for quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain the highest standards of laboratory practice. • Perform computer operations (e.g., report printing) and data entry and retrieval to facilitate documentation and reporting processes. • Participate in special studies as required by the laboratory and medical staff to support ongoing research and diagnostic initiatives. • Assist with clinical resource leadership/training in specimen processing to ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and standards. Salary Range: $31.82 – $41.96/hour

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  

• A high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED or HiSET). • Proficiency in computer skills, including typing and internet navigation. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. • Excellent organizational, teamwork, and time-management skills. • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed to ensure continuous laboratory operations and meet the demands of patient care. • Working knowledge of Microbiology terminology used in a clinical laboratory setting is a plus.
