|Summary of Duties||
In conjunction with faculty and research staff, supervises and coordinates the operations of the Dynamic Mechanics of Materials Laboratory (DMML) within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE); operates hydraulic testing machines (Instron and MTS) and other equipment used for testing materials; uses Digital Image Correlation instruments and software; records and processes data using digital cameras, oscilloscopes, and computers; designs fixtures for material testing; maintains lab equipment and makes recommendations for the procurement of supplies and related equipment; ensures applicable safety procedures and standards are followed and enforced; implements current laboratory safety programs; ensures laboratory personnel have appropriate safety training and/or credentials, as needed; prepares testing results, writes final reports and prepares presentations; advises and assists researchers with the use of material testing equipment; coordinates fabrication of specimens at machine shops inside and outside OSU; modifies existing equipment as needed to meet new and changed needs; suggests and implements technological innovations for future research.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanics, mechanical engineering, or other related field of engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; considerable knowledge of laboratory methods, materials, and equipment; experience with laboratory safety procedures and practices; knowledge of computer programming in MATLAB and other software.
Master’s degree in mechanics or related field of Engineering.
