Position Summary
The Research Technician will execute, interpret, and report scientific experiments to achieve specific goals as directed in the Ehre Laboratory. Scientific techniques include, but are not limited to handling of human samples, biochemical analysis of specimen, maintenance of mouse colonies, microscopy, basic molecular biology procedures such as mRNA and genomic DNA extraction, and a good command of general laboratory procedures. A partial component of this position is general laboratory management including participation in daily operations including ordering and record keeping and compliance with health and safety procedures.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The Ehre laboratory uses a variety of scientific techniques, and experience with any/all of the following would be advantageous: 
1) Mammalian cell culture 
2) Molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA isolation, PCR and RT-PCR 
3) Biochemical techniques, including Western blots and immunohistochemistry 
4) Animal handling, including management of transgenic mouse colonies, genotyping, and treatment
5) Microscopy, including light , fluorescence, and electron microscopy techniques.
In addition, competency in the following computer programs is strongly preferred: Word processing, Excel, graphic and imaging software, PowerPoint, Illustrator.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Proficiency in confocal and electron microscopy is a plus.
