Specifically, we use both transgenic/knockout mouse models, primary normal and diseased human bronchial epithelial cells coupled with CRISPR-Cas9 technology to address the key roles of transcription factors in respiratory epithelial cells that regulate secretions of mucus and ion/water, mucociliary clearance and innate host defense that are highly relevant to pathogenesis of chronic muco-obstructive lung diseases and SARS-CoV-2 infection.
