Laboratory Research Operations Senior Analyst

The Lab Manager, under the guidance of Dr. Allan, will oversee the operational aspects of Dr. Allan's research laboratory. This includes managing and supervising research projects, standing in for project managers as needed, and ensuring regulatory compliance with OSU, state, and federal guidelines. The Lab Manager will lead weekly administrative team meetings to review progress on individual studies and oversee the lab's social media presence and periodic auditing of studies.

 

Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, scheduling work for undergraduate research assistants, research associates, project managers, and clinical research staff. The Lab Manager will also be involved in training and evaluating staff, coordinating both short-term and long-term lab functions with Dr. Allan, and consulting on equipment, supply, and staffing needs. They will estimate costs for projects, maintain and upgrade lab equipment, order components for instructional and research needs, and oversee the development of software and hardware systems such as MetricWire, RedCap, and Biosemi. Additionally, the Lab Manager will maintain comprehensive documentation including a living operations manual.

 

Other duties involve managing logistics related to equipment orders, travel arrangements, financial tracking, meeting coordination, maintaining digital and physical lab spaces, and overseeing logs for equipment such as EEG.

 

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory management or a supervisory role in a research setting.

- Proficiency with research compliance and regulatory requirements.

- Strong organizational and project management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Experience with budget management and financial oversight.

- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.

- Technical proficiency with lab software, equipment, and data management systems.

- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor research staff.

- Capacity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
