The mission of UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) is to educate future pharmacists and scientists to become leaders in diverse fields, transform pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, and improve human health.

Under general supervision, makes significant independent contributions to ongoing and planned collaborative research projects in the field of pharmacoepidemiology, geographic information systems analysis, claims data analysis, pharmaceutical policy, and pharmaceutical health services research. Selects methods and techniques for experimental research studies. Documents and implements statistical models for research; manages, analyzes and interprets data; prepares data for analysis; and draws conclusion of data. Contributes to training of staff and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of geographic information systems analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience with GIS data management, statistical analysis and research related programming.

  • Proven ability to research and learn new and developing statistical and geographic information systems methods and tools through self-learning, seminars, and other modes of learning.

  • Demonstrated experience with handling large databases of clinical information linked to working with multiple project deadlines and time management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, able to work collaboratively.

  • Experience working with Excel, in using data visualization software and techniques (e.g., R, Prism) as well as systems such a as SAS and ArcGIS.

  • Demonstrated experience with research design, protocol development, and qualitative and quantitative research methods to independently address scientific challenges to move the project forward.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety techniques, and the ability to ensure laboratory compliance with required safety regulations.

*Experience designing, implementing, maintaining and using large and complex databases.

  • Proven ability to research and learn new and developing statistical methods and tools through self-learning, seminars, and other modes of learning.

  • Ability to making significant contributions with complex statistical programming research.

  • Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills to communicate research results and carry out collaborative projects.

  • Advanced degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring of students and junior team members in laboratory setting.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,506 - $103,727 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.89 - $49.68

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
