Job Description:                      Laboratory Research Analyst II / Job code 1215

Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy

Perform various experiments and help publish manuscripts in support of federal and private grant funding that is already in place, or which will be applied for in the future by the PI.

  • Mouse models of disease, as well as human blood cells and tissues. Animal handling.
  • Generate experimental data.
  • Coordinate de-identified blood sample transport and downstream processing for cell isolation and storage as needed by the PI as part of a clinical trial, or for other IRB-approved experimental procedures.
  • Supervise other lab members in various experimental techniques and data analysis including flow cytometry, ELISAs, western blots, qPCR, in vitro assays (including CRISPR technology), immunofluorescence microscopy, and related.
  • Organize lab meetings where others will present data updates for ongoing projects.
  • Assist the PI in writing and proofreading grants for federal/private funding and manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist in writing IACUC (animal) protocols and amendments, and serve as a lab liaison for the IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) and DLAR (Department of Laboratory Animal Resources) during inspections, and for any immediate concerns about animal health or related issues.
  • Assist the lab manager in writing SOPs (standard operating procedures) and maintaining equipment (via service contracts, etc.)
  • Maintain necessary lab supplies and assist the lab manager in overseeing ordering to maintain cost efficiency.

Preferred Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or other science related scientific field.

Experience in mouse handling/tissue harvesting/injections, flow cytometry, assay performance & development, sample processing, database maintenance, and other techniques described above.

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.


Experience

Work requires four years of research experience. A related master's OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master'sdegree in lieu of two years of experience.
