Laboratory Manager - Biomedical Engineering

The Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering department seeks to transform healthcare worldwide through interdisciplinary engineering innovation and to train future leaders and innovators in biomedical engineering.

We are currently searching for two Lab Managers to join the Cook group in our Biomedical Engineering department.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by following research plans to collect, record and manipulate research data, and other such task as assigned to you.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Providing routine and non-routine technical support for the lab by performing a variety of tasks in support of research.

  • Maintaining the lab space(s), equipment, instruments, and supplies.

  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training, and acclimating research participants to the lab.

  • Participating in the planning, preparation, execution, and analysis of in vivo and/or in vitro experiments. This includes but is not limited to; set up, clean up, anesthesia, peri- and postoperative animal care, data and sample collection, data analysis, record keeping, and the use of animal care and use protocols.

  • Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biomedical engineering, or related field.

  • 1-3 years of laboratory research experience, including surgical animal experiments.

Requirements:

  • Successful background check
