Posting Summary
The Agilent Laboratory for Chemical Analysis (ALCA) Lab Manager provides expertise and supports instrumentation for chemical analysis and measurements of compounds/substances for academic, research, and business purposes. The position supports PIs/faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students in UVM colleges/schools, other universities and external research groups and businesses. Provides intellectual input for the design, set up, and implementation of ALCA experiments. Prepares statistical and administrative reports based on analytical results. Creates and maintains evaluation documentation, files, and records. Works with PIs to acquire and interpret data for manuscripts and publications. Keeps informed of developments in instrumentation to enhance research. Trains for independent use of instruments; provides into/survey of technology to students. Oversees day-to-day operation of the facility including instrument maintenance; client access/scheduling, service requests, project agreements, billing, and manages annual MOU review, rate, and budget development for the Chem Instrumentation I/E.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master of Science degree in Chemistry and three to five years’ related experience. Relevant experience to include experimental design and application of the following types of instrumentation: mass spectrometry, liquid and gas chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and optical spectroscopy (both molecular and elemental). Demonstrated experience in data analysis and spectral interpretation. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, and prepare reports and manuals.

Other Information
Anticipated Pay Range: 90,000-95,000/year
