Responsibilities

The Department of Pharmacology is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to provide technical support in the research laboratory. As a Lab Assistant, you will support animal research techniques by preparing buffers, chemical agents, and other solutions as defined by specific research protocols. In this role, you will oversee laboratory equipment maintenance, by ordering and receiving inventory, in addition to assisting with the maintenance of mouse colonies according to ARC guidelines. The Lab Assistant will also support experiments using basic molecular biology techniques, such as Western blot, IHC, RT-PCR experiments, and molecular cloning. Part of your duties will include tabulating, organizing and evaluating data on a daily basis as well as conducting mouse procedures such as tumor implantation and tumor cell injections. Finally, you will also maintain laboratory notes and record data in computer databases in addition to maintaining a clean and well-organized laboratory.
