In support of The Ohio State Universitys Research and Innovation activities, the selected candidate will work within Enterprise for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge (ERIK), supporting the University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) mission of providing humane animal care and facilitating biomedical research discoveries.

In coordination with the area Team Leader and Zone Coordinator, works as a team member to complete humane animal care and facility needs; maintains record systems and inventory of animals in eprotocol and RFID systems, including transfers and animal order needs, helps team feed and water animals as required by standard operating procedures for species; observes and reports abnormal conditions; prepares special diets; performs rounds of animal facilities; within assigned team area maintains sanitation of animal housing and research areas; performs sterilization, disinfection, pest control; generates and maintains record keeping systems for animal care, does tree cards and census to track treatment and service needs; tracks and maintains inventories of equipment, instruments, and supplies for the designated area. Performs cagewash functions per facility needs as required. The position requires successful completion of a background check and employee health physical.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Required: Per Classified Civil Service Classification specification, High school diploma or equivalent certificate; six (6) months work experience providing direct care for animals in a program setting or facility.
Desired: Current AALAS registration as Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician.

We have multiple part-time openings to fill . This job opportunity is a technical-level position. The targeted hourly hiring rate is $13.00 to $17.00. The offered rate will fall within this range based on internal equity, the candidate's qualifications and the unit's available budget being the primary determining factor. Working shared weekends and holiday hours required.
