Lab Technician I, Animal

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), a world-renowned scientific research organization on Long Island’s North Shore, is seeking responsible individuals to handle and care for small research animals by joining our team of animal care staff.
 

Technicians will also provide general laboratory and animal nursing services to research animals. This includes animal husbandry, cage changing, some veterinary care and providing a sanitary research environment. 

Education: An Associate’s degree in a related discipline is required.
 
Experience: At least six months of relevant work experience is preferred.
 
Skills: Strong attention to detail and quality control are required. Time management skills and effective oral and written communication skills are also required. Must be able to operate cage washers, autoclaves, and other disinfecting/sterilizing equipment. Must be able to work with or around laboratory animals.
 
Physical: Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $35,000-37,000.   The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
