Occupational Summary

Conduct a variety of complex and independent investigations in the planning, development and implementation of original experimental procedures within the overall scope of a research project at Duke University.

Work Performed

Applicants should be familiar with common neuroimmunology techniques and must have experience with handling mice and human samples.

  • Running and analyzing behavioral assays,
  • Performing dissections,
  • Tissue processing,
  • Immunohistochemistry,
  • Microscopy, and flow cytometry.
  • Performing a variety of complex duties supporting other research staff,
  • Support the Principal Investigator with general laboratory maintenance and protocols, - Contribute to their own independent research project. 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Applicants must also have experience using common software (including FIJI/ImageJ, Graphpad Prism, R, etc),
  • Ability to maintain general lab equipment,
  • Display proficiency of academic research skills through publications

Education/Training

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

Work requires four years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
