Job Description:

Lab management tasks include:

  • Recruiting and paying participants.

  • Managing IRB approvals and amendments.

  • Providing support for lab personnel.

  • Website maintenance.

  • Social media management.

  • Preparing and submitting expense reports.

  • Planning lab meetings and events.

  • Onboarding new hires.

  • Creating reports for the use of computational resources.

  • Carrying-out administrative duties such as ordering equipment, maintaining paperwork and electronic materials, and the general maintenance of the day-to-day operations of the lab.

Research oriented tasks include:

  • Conducting literature reviews.

  • Brainstorming research questions and hypotheses.

  • Training/testing human subjects in both neuroimaging (fNIRS) and behavioral experiments.

  • Designing and programming experiments.

  • Wrangling and scraping large datasets.

  • Analyzing experimental data using R and Python.

  • Preparing manuscripts for publication.

  • Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

  • May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

  • Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, psychology, biology, physics, math or other related fields.

Experience:

  • Research experience in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or another social science, would be ideal.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong computer programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, R and/or Python) are expected, though we will help to improve candidateâ™s computational skills through lab training and collaborative research projects.

  • Should be self-motivated, independent, and reliable.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
