About the Department
 

This position will be in the Brain Bridge Lab in the Department of Psychology, a laboratory that conducts psychological and neuroscience (e.g., MRI) research on human vision and memory.


Job Summary
 

The job provides technical support activities related to scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage laboratory finances in related to grant management, purchases, experimental participant payments, and travel.

  • Manage IRB (Institutional Review Board) ethics applications.

  • Update laboratory website and manage the lab e-mail address.

  • Manage general laboratory research activities including organizing one-quarter of the BLRB (Bainbridge-Leong-Rosenberg-Bakkour) lab meeting.

  • Lead participant recruitment and assist with running participants for an MRI study on visual imagery.

  • Conduct independent research project, draft presentations and write a manuscript on this project.

  • Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science).

Experience:

  • 1+ years working in a research lab.

  • Experience working with human participants (healthy adults).

  • Experience managing financial expenses/reimbursements.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Programming and computational skills (MATLAB, Python).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Preferred Competencies

  • Oral and written communication skills.
