Lab Manager, Department of Biology - Georgetown University College of Arts and Sciences
Job Overview
The Lab Manager furthers the mission of Georgetown as a Tier 1 research institution. They assist the grant-funded research of the laboratory in duties that include but are not limited to: making and receiving orders; helping to train and assist graduate and undergraduate students in their experiments; overseeing the lab's instruments, equipment, and unique strain and plasmid stock collection; and conducting research on their own project.
Work Interactions
Reporting to Principal Investigator, Ronda Rolfes, PhD, the Lab Manager supports and interacts daily with the graduate and undergraduate students of the lab, and keeps the lab running smoothly and add to the research productivity as the PI assumes new duties as Department Chair.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Thesis MS degree awarded in the area of molecular genetics and/or biochemistry - preference for PhD in same area, given the technical and management skills necessary for the role
- Expertise in working with microbes (bacteria or yeast)
Preferred qualification
Experienced in training or mentoring students
