About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Lab Coordinator - Production Studio will assist in the day-to-day operation of the Production Studio and lab spaces maintained by the Media Studios Organization in the College of Arts, Media & Design (CAMD). This includes multiple labs at various locations and in various departments within CAMD including the Television Broadcasting Studio, Green Screen Studio, Podcast Studio, Recording Studios, editing bays, and specialized classroom labs for media production and audio recording.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Facilities management, which includes providing access for students to various spaces within the Production Studios footprint and maintaining the security and cleanliness of the facilities.
Equipment management, which includes circulating equipment rentals, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment, testing and maintaining computer lab equipment, moving and organizing computer and production equipment as needed, and storing equipment properly. The ability to lift 50lbs is a necessity.
Student- and faculty-facing training, which includes supporting media production projects, audio recording projects, and production-oriented research. This role will also support faculty with production-centered workshops that train both faculty and students on the use of our specialized media production equipment throughout the academic year.
Student staff onboarding and management, which includes training new student staff on workflows in the Production Studios, workflows supported by WebCheckout (our media circulation software), and assisting the Production Studios Manager with the creation of student staff schedules.
The Lab Coordinator - Production Studio will meet regularly with the Production Manager and assist with ongoing projects that support the strategic growth of the College of Arts, Media & Design’s production infrastructure, including new initiatives related to virtual production, Unreal Engine, and other related technologies.
As a student- and faculty-facing position, the Lab Coordinator - Production Studio must work on-campus four days a week with the option to work remotely one day each week. This position is required to work outside regular business hours on an infrequently basis as needed for maintenance, training, supervision, admissions, and outreach.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required with 2 or more years of production experience. This position requires experience with Adobe Creative Suite; Proficiency editing with Adobe Premiere, Media Composer, Davinci Resolve; Pro Tools, audio production, and knowledge of podcasting workflows; Photography, studio and field lighting; Experience with television studio production, including use of a Ross Carbonite switcher, Ross Xpression CG, playout/record servers, and broadcast studio cameras; Use of various DSLR cameras, audio, and video field equipment; Knowledge of Unreal Engine as it pertains to virtual production. Applicant must have the willingness to learn broadcast infrastructure.
