Under the general supervision of the Associate Professor, capture and handle bats for the collection of biological specimens; organize and inventory field supplies; enter data collected; and perform environmental sampling of bat caves, for a remote foreign field expedition. Work Location is in Puerto Rico. Position Information
PHYSICAL DEMANDS · Catching and handling bats is essential. · Working in field conditions is also essential, including open forest and cave environments. WORK ENVIRONMENT · Travel and stay at the field station for two months in Puerto Rico, and work in open forest and cave environments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education/Experience: · Experience catching and handling bats is essential. · Experience working in field conditions is also essential, including open forest and cave environments. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): · Must be able to work effectively as part of a team. · Knowledge and experience of Puerto Rico bat species. Knowledge and experience bat handling and collecting biological specimens. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.
