Qualifications
Ability to recognize and use technical terminology related to muscle anatomy and function. -REQUIRED
Skill in conducting studies with rodents (handling in non-stressful matter, surgical techniques). -REQUIRED
Ability to use/maintain histological equipment (cryostat, microscopes, imaging, software/programs). -REQUIRED
Skill in conducting immunostaining procedures (troubleshooting, reagent preparation)-REQUIRED
Experience in standard biochemical procedures (e.g., accurate pipetting, knowledge of centrifuges). -REQUIRED
Ability to communicate effectively.
Working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety regulations regarding use of chemical and biological substances and their disposal. -REQUIRED
Ability to think analytically, prioritize, work independently, shift priorities and adapt to change. -REQUIRED
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students. -REQUIRED
Ability to maintain a clean working environment. -REQUIRED
Knowledge of computers, including; word processing, spreadsheet, graphics software and literature search methods.-REQUIRED
Knowledge to perform basic molecular skills such as DNA/RNA extractions and PCR. -REQUIRED
Knowledge to prepare and maintain mammalian tissue cultures -REQUIRED
Knowledge to prepare chemical solutions and buffers. -REQUIRED
Ability to maintain accurate inventory of supplies and laboratory instruments.- PREFERRED
Ability to prepare samples for analysis using standard methods
Ability to pass the appropriate UCLA exams for compliance
