The Crump Institute is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II with a background in molecular and cell biology to join the team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work alongside researchers and assist in a wide range of responsibilities, including cloning, PCR, DNA purification/preparation, immunoprecipitation, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, and tissue culture. In addition, you will assist with the application of standard, computer algorithms to analyze routine biological data such as gene expression and proteomics data. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work with standard algorithms that implement mathematical and statistical procedures on biological data sets, adding valuable insights to our research endeavors. Hourly range: $21.38-$25.15

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  

Required: * Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;  * Knowledge of mathematics, statistics and computation related to biological data analysis;  * Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including balance, centrifuge, pH meter, PCR machine, etc;  * Basic computer scripting skills including knowledge of at least one of the following * scripting languages: Perl, R, Unix scripting;  * Dependability and accuracy in tasks assigned.  * Ability to create and maintain records; accurately, and to annotate executed analysis; *  Ability to communicate effectively to convey results.
