Minimum Requirements:

Lab Animal Technician I - High school diploma or GED and one or more years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Grade 1 (Hourly)

Lab Animal Technician II - High school diploma or GED and two or more years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Grade 2 (Hourly)

Position Description:

Join a motivated and innovative team dedicated to practices of husbandry, technical, and research support for a variety of animal species and advance infectious disease research. A qualified candidate will receive unique biocontainment training with opportunities for continuing education and growth. Job duties will include work at biosafety levels 2 and 3.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs general animal husbandry, including by not limited to animal health observations, cage changing, and facility maintenance in adherence with biosafety standards
  • Responsible for the decontamination and sanitization of ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 equipment and facilities. Applies biosafety procedures with processing biohazardous materials.
  • Recognize and report veterinary cases to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a stock of supplies to support research needs.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are compliant with federal regulations and agencies.
  • Ensures quality assurance by managing records of research involving biologic agents.
  • Ensures that facilities and equipment are in optimal and adequate working condition. Submit requests for maintenance and repairs as needed.

1 position available.  Position will be filled at the Lab Animal Technician I or II level based on candidate qualifications and if the candidate has AALAS certification.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
