Job Summary
 

Instructs TRIO program students in elective (non-core) courses. Elective courses include Spanish I, Spanish II, Path to Student Success, Digital Media Design, Advanced Art Making, Creative Writing, and ACT/SAT Prep for Success.

This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant funding for this position.

 


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, organizes, develops and conducts a comprehensive instructional course for students enrolled in the Summer Academy
2. Conducts integrated academic classes pertaining to the course
3. Teaches students learning strategies
4. Conducts teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids
5. Responsible for preparing and submitting a course syllabus prior to the start of the class
6. Assists with the planning, instruction and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving activities
7. Completes paperwork associated with classroom and project management
8. Makes recommendations on students' strengths and needs
9. Reports student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel


Required Qualifications
 

Required Experience
One (1) year of related experience

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent
 


Preferred Qualifications
 

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with planning, organizing and implementing lesson plans with High School Students. Courses are non-accredited courses 
Completion of a minimum of sixty (60) hours of course work towards obtaining a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Ability to work autonomously and in team settings
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Experience with planning, organizing, and implementing lesson plans
Experience with academic support programs, or similar programs for high school students
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
