Position Details
Wesleyan University’s Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life and the Shapiro Center for Creative Writing and Criticism invites applications for the 2024–2025 Koeppel Fellowship in Journalism. Successful candidates will have both academic and professional experience in journalism, including but not limited to content writing, news production, or editing. The fellow will be in residence during the academic year. They will develop a two-course series that introduces students to the basic elements of news reporting and writing, along with one elective of the fellow’s choosing. The elective course should introduce students to a more specialized area in the field of journalism, including but not limited to narrative journalism, magazine writing, digital publication, broadcast journalism, or data journalism. We welcome applicants from all areas of journalism and with diverse professional experiences, but we are especially interested in those with a strong record of teaching and a thoughtful pedagogy suitable for a diverse liberal arts student body.
The teaching load is 2/1 with competitive salary. Additional duties include offering guidance to the student newspaper The Wesleyan Argus. This is a residential, in-person fellowship with an expectation that the fellow participates in campus life beyond their teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in journalism (or related field) in hand by the time of appointment, or the commensurate professional experience, including a record of published or broadcast work.
