Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, actively maintains a pool of qualified individuals to be selected from on an as needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Science, Kinesiology Emphasis, Biological Science or closely related field, from an accredited institution OR licensed Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist or Personal Trainer with previous teaching experience in a higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

The primary responsibilities are to teach in-person college-level Kinesiology courses in an organized, scholarly, and well-planned format, utilizing the Canvas platform, course syllabus, course materials, models, and tools available to enhance the learning experience provided in the classroom.  Instruction will consist of human body movement which addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological mechanisms of movement, and detailed systematic hands-on study specifically designed for massage therapists which will incorporate both theoretical concepts and practical palpatory anatomy practice. An introduction to the human skeletal and soft tissue anatomy, including bony landmarks, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other anatomical structures and how they relate to movement, and an exploration of the textural and structural differences among body structures including action, origin, insertion, and innervation of major muscles must be explored. This position must perform course assessments as needed, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, comply with published college policies and procedures, maintain student information including grades and attendance, maintain active communication about student performance with program administrator where necessary, encourage a positive learning environment, input grades prior to set deadlines at the end of each semester, and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.

Compensation: $952 per credit for standard credit courses.

Conditions of Employment

This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College.

These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; appointee has no appeal rights. Temporary assignments are not eligible for consideration for tenure as part of the assignment.
