Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm


Job Summary: The Kennemer Center Program Coordinator supports efforts for the BIG Ideas program and retention and student involvement within the program. Assists with contest partnership building and sponsorship development. Provides all outreach and marketing of the contest, and ongoing communication with all student participants. Designs and executes all skills workshops and events. Assists the Director in the administration of program function.


Additional Department Summary: Supports efforts for the BIG Ideas program and is integral in retention and student involvement within the program. Oversees the program support, general office, administrative duties with some variety and complexity. Assists the Director of the James C. Kennemer Center for Innovation and Social Impact in administering all the program functions.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in personal computers and standard application software, including spreadsheets and relational databases. Excellent customer service skills. Good organizational communication (written and verbal). Teamwork and public relations skills. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Experience working with students and ability to work with groups of people. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting. Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions and cope with stressful conditions. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to supervise graduate assistants and student interns. A solid comprehension of writing fundamentals and demonstrated ability to write effectively and analyze and summarize complex information. Experience building partnerships, teaching, consulting, or working with college students. Public speaking and presentation skills. An evaluation background that includes training in survey item design and quantitative/ qualitative analysis. Ability to represent BIG Ideas at meetings and events. Organizational and time-management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, students, etc., both verbally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree and at least two years of administrative experience with budgets (state and/or grant funds), as well as experience using specific UA systems (Banner, Concur, Everest) and knowledge of the University’s financial accounting, purchasing, and travel policies and procedures. Event planning experience. Understanding of the entrepreneurial and innovation landscape both within and outside of Alabama. Demonstrated experience working with a program of similar scale
