We’re looking for a candidate with deep knowledge of the national and Alaskan educational landscapes, and strong project and people management skills. The ideal candidate would have experience with grant development and management, fiscal management, and a keen understanding of effective management of people. The K12 Outreach office is a small unit (approximately 10 FTE employees) tasked with overseeing three programs: the Alaska Statewide Teacher Mentoring Program, Educators Rising, and Alaska Teachers and Personnel. The position requires an individual highly skilled in juggling multiple responsibilities, managing multiple funding streams, and competent in interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders, both inside the University of Alaska system, and across the state. The person in this role will also take on primary management and reporting responsibilities for two large existing federal grants associated with the Alaska State Teacher Mentoring Program, and will be responsible for spearheading future efforts to maintain external funding streams.

Position Summary:

Grant management – fiscal and administrative functions. 

Oversee the management and reporting functions on two existing large federal grants supporting statewide new teacher mentoring efforts, housed in the K12 Outreach office, including personnel recruitment and budget accountability (in collaboration with the UAF SOE grant fiscal manager).

Grant and external funding generation.

Ensure sustained external funding to complement the base funded K12 Outreach office budget by identifying and overseeing application development and processing for grants aligned with the primary responsibilities of the K12 Outreach office: Alaska teacher recruitment and retention.

Administrative and personnel management for K12 Outreach office.

Manage and motivate the K12 Outreach personnel and budget, and perform other administrative functions including overseeing personnel recruitment and development of yearly budget in collaboration with UAF SOE fiscal manager.

Partnership management and maintenance

Represent K12 Outreach programs and manage both internal and external partnerships with teacher recruitment and retention stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters or higher degree in education-related field. Three years documented experience in project and/or grant management. Familiarity with the Alaskan educational landscape. Experience working in a higher education context.

Position Details:

This position is based in Fairbanks, Alaska and requires that you reside in Fairbanks. Hybrid/option for remote/off-site work 1-2 days/week. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 82, based on education and experience.
