This position might initially start working remotely but will ultimately have the option to work from one of our offices located in Crystal City, VA, Rockville, MD, Austin, TX, Chicago, IL, Chapel Hill, NC, or Waltham, MA or continue to work remotely.

 



  • Provide support to the Center for Coordinated Assistance to States (CCAS) Project Director and Deputy Directors and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP) State Relations and Assistance Division (SRAD) on the development, approval, and facilitation of all project related activities
  • Organize, coordinate, and assist in the provision of training and technical assistance (TTA) activities for the states and territories related to compliance with the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act as amended by the Juvenile Justice Reform Act (JJRA) of 2018
  • Work as part of a team to host listening sessions with the juvenile justice field on new JJRA requirements (i.e., jail removal/court holding facilities, juveniles charged as adults, etc.) and provide reports with key information and analysis of listening session content
  • Work with OJJDP to update Compliance Monitoring TA Tool for states with new JJRA requirements
  • In collaboration with OJJDP, the CCAS-AIR Team, and CCAS Partners participate in the facilitation of learning opportunities for court holding facilities personnel and other facility personnel on JJRA requirements
  • Work as part of a team to host regional discussions/trainings on pertinent compliance related topics
  • Support OJJDP, the CCAS-AIR Team and CCAS Partners with COVID information sharing to the field
  • Assist in reviewing States’ Plans for Compliance Monitoring (i.e., , state’s comprehensive Compliance Monitoring Policies and Procedures Manual), Compliance Monitoring Universes, and compliance data collection systems for the Deinstitutionalization of Status Offenders (DSO), Separation, and Jail Removal core requirements of the JJDP Act and assist in assessing needs and offering TTA to support states in their efforts to achieve and/or maintain compliance
  • Support project leadership to proactively develop TTA plans in collaboration with recipients and OJJDP
  • Participate in the delivery of high-quality, responsive, individualized TTA regarding compliance with the JJDP Act as amended by the JJRA
  • Provide timely and accurate updates on TTA activities
  • Participate in the collection of performance measures and evaluation data
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of resources and deliverables


  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-7 years of related experience or 8+ years in the provision of training and technical assistance to juvenile justice or other youth and family serving organizations.
  • Experience serving in the role of a Compliance Monitor at a Title II DSA
  • Ability to assist in generating well-written and compelling reports
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects including competing demands
  • Flexibility and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Effective communicator
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team
  • Acute attention to detail and strong work ethic

 

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.
