What you need to know:

• This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option that can be discussed further during the interview process.

• The salary for this position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

• This position can be based from Austin TTI or Bryan/College Station TTI.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for conducting applied research in the areas of transportation planning, and environmental planning. Candidates must have strong data analytical/statistical skills, experience working with complex datasets, and visualization software. Responsibilities include: statistical analysis, database development, assessing and developing new approaches or methods for analyzing data, maintaining large data sets, visualizing data, and providing oversight and direction to student employees. Candidates also prepare presentations and technical documentation, including contributing to technical reports and formal project reports, contributing to proposals submitted to state, local and national sponsors, and disseminating research findings through conference presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Works independently, with oversight from TTI Principal Investigator, TTI Program Manager, and overall direction from TTI Division Head. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Essential Duties:

• Data and statistical analysis. 50%

• Database development and data visualization. 25%

• Project documentation, including technical reports and presentations. 10%

• Task management: 5%

• Internal and external presentations: 5%

• Other duties as assigned. 15%

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Engineering, Planning, or other related field

• 4 years related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills along with interpersonal and presentation skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), in Database software (e.g., MS ACCESS, SQL, VBA, etc.), in visualization software (Tableau, etc.), and in Statistical Software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, etc.).

• ArcGIS skills and Python

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 years relevant work experience.

• Experience in conducting applied research in the area of transportation planning.

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Planning, or other related field

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform common office functions.

• Ability to frequently communicate with other individuals within the workplace.

• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
