Department Office of Research and Sponsored Programs/Marian Wright Edelman Institute Appointment Type Temporary: Position will end on or before June 30, 2022. Permanent status cannot be earned in this grant funded position. This Temporary appointment can be concluded prior to the stated temporary appointment end date, normally with a two-week notice period. Continuation of this temporary appointment is contingent upon grant funding. Time Base Full-Time (1.0) Work Schedule Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Anticipated Hiring Range $5,200.00 per month ($62,400.00 annually) Salary is commensurate with experience. Position Summary This is a full-time position based on the San Francisco State campus. The primary responsibility of the support coach is to support the implementation of the Jumpstart Early Practice. The position includes supporting with in program/class activities and making presentations and follow up visits to preschool centers to coach Jumpstart corps members in their implementation of Jumpstart program literacy and language skills and early child education competencies, including early math skill development. The position works collaboratively with the PATH and SF SEED program teams. Position Information Jumpstart Program Implementation - Support Jumpstart program implementation and planning, ensuring high-quality program implementation for program partners, mentor teachers, and Corps members - Work and coordinate with partner agencies and sites to recruit children and families for the school readiness program, identifying ways to ensure children are attending and following up with families to schedule sessions with college students and children - Process, maintain, and manage the Jumpstart Resource Center (HSS 264) materials for the program - Maintain and update information and data at the Jumpstart Resource Center (HSS 264) - Support program activates (i.e.: instructor of record) for Jumpstart Early Practicum program and assist in the development and facilitation of programming - Provide cohort of Corps members with systematic support, consistent and responsive management, and clear ongoing communication - Support process to ensure files for preschool evaluation collection and data entry by working with program leads - Support/Coordination management of Corps member files to Corporation for National and Community - Service and/or Grantee specifications; support Corps members in the completion of expected service hour requirements - Observe Jumpstart sessions to support high-quality Early Childhood interactions; provide modeling, coaching and feedback to corps members; support teacher collaboration - Review and provide on-going strength-based feedback via coaching and practice - Assist with professional development, technical assistance to help Corps members understand how the following function in a preschool classroom program and compliance-related issues - Participate in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with Jumpstart Program Director, attend ongoing Bay Area Site Manager meetings, San Francisco Team meetings, and any other feedback meetings - Support the development of National and local stakeholders by hosting site visits and engaging Corps members in events - Support with preparation and submit reports on programmatic performance to Jumpstart Northern California Office on a quarterly basis Program Development and Mentor Field Teacher Support - Coordinate and facilitate school readiness cafes for partner centers including recruiting, tracking and sharing data on cafe success and challenges - Work in collaboration with partner sites to design and implement curriculum that aligns with the needs and goals of their program - Oversee the selection and training of field mentor teachers - Coordinate 10-15 classroom teacher relationships (per each Workforce Manager); provide orientation, and regularly meet with head teachers on a bi-weekly to monthly basis, and provide ongoing low and high touch support - Participate in corps member/teacher curriculum planning meetings to support quality collaboration, meeting facilitation and curriculum planning - Provide professional development support for teachers, host a minimum of 3 mentor field teacher roundtable professional development meetings a year General Program Support - Join all team meetings and retreats - Coordinate with preschool classroom lead teacher on student collaboration for videos programming - Attend and support in all PATH, Jumpstart, or SF SEED special events as well as presentations and offerings as assigned - Support preparation and present in local and national conference presentations when applicable - Support development of presentations and materials (newsletters, grant reports, proposals, etc.) that effectively communicate about Jumpstart, PATH, and SF SEED programming and share at community and stakeholder meetings - Represent Jumpstart, PATH and SF SEED at community meetings with public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations - Develop presentations that effectively communicate about Jumpstart, PATH, and SF SEED programming and share at community and stakeholder meetings Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. - Knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts. - Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. - Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit. - Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. - Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to and/or administrative specialty. - Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. - Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. - Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. - Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment. - Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. - Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. - Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. - Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Preferred Qualifications - BA in Early Childhood Education or related field - 2 years’ experience in early childhood education - Knowledge and understanding of early childhood in the bay area including familiarity with QRIS and Quality Counts CA coaching model Required License/Certification - CA Driver’s license to visit various ECE sites and attend meetings or ability to get to meetings and sites - Site Supervisor or Program Director CA Child Development permit or eligibility. - Ability to work some evenings and weekends, attend all PATH courses as needed.
