The Highlights:
The Ministry Coordinator will serve within DePaul's Division of Mission and Ministry, specifically as a member of the Religious Diversity and Pastoral Care team to develop and sustain meaningful and pluralistic Jewish and interfaith learning opportunities. To this end the Coordinator will develop, implement, and support DePaul-sponsored and student-centered/led opportunities for Jewish students and coordinate interfaith learning and support. The Ministry Coordinator will also work collaboratively with colleagues within the Division and throughout the university as well as with external organizations in support of the DePaul Jewish community and inter-faith cooperation.
What You'll Do:



  • Jewish Life Coordination. Provide coordination of all facets of Jewish Life Ministry at DePaul. Supervise & mentor Jewish life student leaders, scholars, and workers; provide Vincentian and Jewish formation, spiritual support, & faith learning to Jewish students, faculty, & staff; provide pastoral care to Jewish students, faculty, & staff; provide primary leadership in coordinating & facilitating regular Shabbat services & annual High Holidays; coordinate, assist in planning, support students in leading Jewish life events such as service & reflection, Interfaith Seders, Yom Hashoah memorial events, Hillel based events, Chabad events, Jewish community events in the greater Chicago area; support students by attending major Jewish events on campus; develop & nurture relationships and collaborate with external partners connected to the Jewish community.

  • Interfaith Coordination. Serve as member of Interfaith Staff Team. Provide weekly supervision ≤adership training for three to six Interfaith scholars; facilitate Vincentian & inter-religious dialogue, education and formation for scholars; supervise regular service & reflection activities for scholars; advise scholars in program development & facilitation for quarterly large-scale events and a minimum of six small scale events throughout the academic year; & support scholars by attending major events. Oversee social media outreach for interfaith communities within the Office of Religious Diversity and Pastoral Care.

  • Perform administrative tasks & other duties as assigned.

  • Perform divisional responsibilities based on needs and individual skill sets.

  • No direct staff reports. Supervises team of student workers, Jewish Faith in Action Scholars, Interfaith Scholars, and collaborates with Jewish student religious organization leaders. Manages relationships with relevant external Jewish partners.

  • Manages assigned annual budget for programs and activities under her/his purview (approximately $5,000 general budget plus additional High Holidays budget and assigned endowment funds). Consults with supervisor throughout the year on budget decisions that fall outside of established annual budget expenses. Per university expectations, manages and reports.


 



What You'll Need:



  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree (preferred). Pluralistic Jewish studies (preferred).

  • Requires at least one year of professional experience, experience in Jewish student support (preferred).

  • Requires understanding and ministry experience reflective of pluralistic Jewish theologies, rituals, and communities.

  • Requires at least one year of experience, study, or work within an inter-religious discipline or setting, including training or experience in interfaith dialogue.

  • Requires working knowledge and experience in social media outreach.

  • Requires at least one year of professional speaking experience.

  • Fundamental theological beliefs of pluralistic Jewish traditions.

  • Lead in public prayer, rituals (particularly related to Jewish and inter-religious traditions).

  • Encourage and foster religious pluralism among inter-religious groups and within various faith traditions.

  • Encourage and lead students in spiritual learning, exploration, and formation through theological reflections based on spiritual, religious and/or ethical values.

  • Foster connections between spirituality and social action.

  • Communicate effectively on integration of faith and justice, encouraging and leading students in spiritual learning, exploration, and formation.

  • Listen attentively, provide pastoral guidance, and respond pastorally, particularly around the specific needs and issues of young adults and in moments of crisis.

  • Excellent leadership, administration, organization, networking, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with University staff, faculty, and external partners.

  • Ability to coordinate and oversee large- and small-scale outreach events.

  • Ability to lead/guide and effectively negotiate group and human dynamics with students and student groups within a large, complex institution.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and educate/train students and others in the DePaul community about the faith/spiritual/religious dimensions of the Catholic-Vincentian mission.

  • Ability to develop and implement outreach events through numerous media.

  • Familiarity with data base processing, multiple social media platforms, budgeting, and event planning.
