UW MEDICAL CENTER – NORTHWEST ITA DEPARTMENT has an outstanding opportunity for a ITA COORDINATOR to join us in our new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning building

WORK SCHEDULE


  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Day Shift, shifts are typically from 7 am – 3:30pm

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    The ITA Department provides forensic behavioral health services to patients at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning and at the UW Medical Center - Northwest and Montlake campuses who are going through the involuntary treatment act (ITA) process for involuntary civilly commitment for behavioral health treatment.  This includes patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) and medical units on the UW Medical Center - Northwest and Montlake campuses.

    ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING
    The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning, opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support to the ITA Program Manager and ITA Court Evaluators in managing ITA cases, ITA court hearings, and other ITA related policies/matters
  • Track the admission and discharge/transfer of all ITA’d patients for UWMC by maintaining a spreadsheet
  • Review the ITA legal documents and court orders for accuracy. Understand and apply ITA laws and regulations
  • Assist with communication and coordination about ITA petition filing date and ITA court hearings with ITA Court Evaluators, Psychiatric Providers, Social
    Workers, Nursing, King County Crisis and Commitment and ITA Court Personnel
  • Coordinate with unit staff and about transporting patients to ITA court hearings and assist with connecting the video equipment/court feed
  • Upload required content and medical records by the required timelines
  • Serves and electronically files all required petitions and documentation for ITA’d patients meeting all required deadlines
  • Collect data on every ITA’d patient at UWMC that is utilized for tracking outcomes, trends, and other QI activities
  • Promote and contribute to the development of the ITA team and working relationships between the unit and other departments/disciplines
  • Participate in unit and departmental problem solving and meetings
  • Demonstrate support for unit and departmental policies by sharing expertise and contributing to selected projects and committees

  • REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    High School diploma or equivalent and three years of applicable administrative experience OR equivalent education /experience
    Skills:
    Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    Able to apply effective interpersonal skills.  Skill in working with diverse populations with cultural sensitivity.
    Able to analyze, organize and prioritize work; adapt to changes in workload demands; multitask and follow through.
    Able to stand/sit for up to 8 hours and move around the hospital for up to two hours.
    Able to work independently and to collaborate and share duties with colleagues.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelors’ Degree
    Experience with EPIC, Word, Adobe, Excel, and additional software that is necessary for job activities
    Knowledge of the ITA system and the ITA process/laws
    Administrative experience working in a hospital and/or behavioral health care setting
    Administrative experience working with court parties/in a legal setting.
