Overview of IT Technician

Our Information Services department at Purdue University Northwest is seeking an IT Technician to join their Customer Service Center team.  Our Customer Service Center (CSC) provides faculty, staff, and students with technical support at multiple walk-in locations as well as through phone, e-mail, and a virtual helpdesk.  The IT Technician provides technical support to university faculty and staff at both our Hammond, IN and Westville, IN campuses.

Education of IT Technician
  • High school diploma/GED

Experience of IT Technician
  • Three years of supporting desktop computers in a networked environment.
  • Experience with following products desirable: Windows PCs, iMac desktops, MacBook and MacBook Pros, mobile devices, MS Office, O-365, SCCM, Mac and PC software imaging tools.

Core Competencies of IT Technician
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and desktop operating systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of PC and Mac internal components, current protocols, and operating systems.
  • Able to read and understand technical manual, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • May be required to travel between the various Purdue campuses.
