Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Network Admin (IT Technician II), Minimum Salary: $45,133 per year, USC Aiken Technology Services Division Under the supervision of the Director of Technology Operations and in coordination with the Network Engineer, maintain the stable operation of the university’s data networks and telecommunication systems. This position is responsible for the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of edge network equipment (switches, access points, and cameras), physical access control equipment, and telecommunication equipment (telephones, PBX, and supporting devices). This position is also responsible for the installation and maintenance of structured cabling (CAT3/6/6a, Fiber, Twinax, Coaxial, etc.) at the university and ensuring the stability of network service delivery over the physical layer. This position is a member of a team which provides mission-critical services to the university and is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems; or equivalency. Experience with network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, access points), structured cabling, and telecommunication equipment (PBX, VoIP phones). Must have proficiency or certification in network administration or gain within one (1) year of hire. Preferred qualifications include: A+, Network+, Cisco CCT, CNCI, or similar certification; experience with Cisco switches (Catalyst or Nexus), access points (Aruba, Cisco, Meraki), and firewalls (Cisco ASA, CheckPoint); and/or experience with Avaya IP telephone equipment. Job Duties

These devices include, but are not limited to: Ethernet switches, WiFi Access Points, IP Cameras, IP Telephones, and point-to-point RF equipment. Ensure connectivity is available for all network devices, using copper, fiber, RF, or other standard physical layer connections. |
